Futuristic architecture and fashion. Stunning landscapes. Here’s a look at the futuristic visuals for Easterland by Eva Shaw.
If you’ve been following Eva Shaw’s career, you know she’s all about providing her fans with out of this world, creative, and often times, self-directed music videos.
Since she dropped her album “SOLO” earlier this year through her independent label Mad fatti, she’s been releasing a series of fashion-focused visuals from the project for songs like “OUTSIDE” featuring Jazz Cartier and Kris The $pirit, “Midnight Strangers” featuring Thouxanbanfauni and DB Bantino” and “JUICE”
featuring DillanPonders.
This week, she blessed fans again with a brand new music video for “EASTERISLAND” featuring blazing hot Toronto rapper Pressa and Thouxanbanfauni.
The video is impressive not only for its cinematography, but for Shaw juggling directing, styling, hair and makeup duties. In the video, she can be seen wearing everything from trench coats and sports bras to ski masks and wigs.
Torontonians will notice some familiar landscapes as the video is shot at Ontario Place along Toronto’s lakeshore. Featured in the video are the Cinesphere, elevated walkways, the Ontario Place marina, and Lake Ontario. Together, they provide a futuristic and post-apocalyptic vibe that are made even more ominous by Shaw appearing in the video alone. While Shaw’s solitude across the video series may seem peculiar, it ties back to the name of the album, SOLO, as well as her navigating the industry as an independent artist.
“…because I am not usually writing lyrics on a lot of my songs, I have to find other ways to express who I am”, she explains. “Aside from
making the beats, I can also show who I am through my videos and fashion direction. I try to never rely on having vocalists in the
music videos.”
Check out the video for yourself and let us know what you think.
