Video of the Month (December) – Quest ft. Hevve and Dip Black- “Cobain”
Who will win for January?
Capé
Residuals
Release date:Â January 9, 2020
Directed, filmed, and edited by:Â 3FIFTYCO
Co-directed by: TheSoulfulPoet
We know Capé as a torch bearer for that 90’s boom bap sound, but in January he switched it up showing off his vocals. Directed, filmed and shot by 3FIFTYCO (who have four videos on our roundup this month) and co-directed by TheSoulfulPoet, the visuals for “Residuals” were shot as Lincoln Fields station. Capé stands at a distance watching the girl he loves talk to other guys. Shot at night, the video is pretty dark reflecting the mood of the song. Nice change of pace and style from one of the city’s bright, upcoming talents.
Frank Blak
Roads
Release date: January 10, 2020
Directed, filmed, and edited by:Â 3FIFTYCO
3FIFTYCO strikes again with the visuals for Frank Blak’s “Roads”. In this video we see Blak getting a fresh cut in the barbershop. With lyrics like, “hailing straight up out the land of the snow”, we also see him out in the snowy forest. Making cameos in the video are producer Khamali Jordan and Jay R Fresher.
KB Westwood
Doug Ford Freestyle
Release date: January 16, 2020
Directed, filmed, and edited by:Â 3FIFTYCO
KB Westwood flexes his lyrical muscle in his video for “Doug Ford Freestyle”. The 3FIFTYCO shot video is set in a dark parking garage and features some nice cars and some weed. Like other freestyle videos, the concept is pretty simple with the star of the show being the bars.
Fletcher G
Die For Me
Release date:Â January 18, 2020
Directed, filmed, and edited by:Â 3FIFTYCO
In January, Fletcher G dropped a video for his song “Die For Me” directed by…you guessed it―3FIFTYCO. Although the aesthetic is dark similar to other 3FIFTYCO videos, the lighting is very well done and sets a great mood.Â
Bobby Brugal
Heat In The Kitchen
Release date:Â January 21, 2020
Directed by:Â Malik (Stainvisualz)
This is definitely my favourite song on our roundup this month. The hook is amazing and the Khamali Jordan produced beat fits with Brugal’s voice like a glove. This might be my favourite Bobby Brugal/Cashtro Crosby song yet.
Directed by Malik of Stainvisualz, the video opens with Bobby Brugal dancing inside the kitchen at Fishy’s Tropical Grill (my favourite Caribbean restaurant in the city). The shot then switches to the parking lot outside of Fishy’s where City Fidelia makes an appearance.
