Canadian hip-hop songwriter, artist, and producer The LJ is back with his new video for “Victory”. Produced by his labelmater Mcjoeey and his longtime friend and collaborator, Yung Fokus (Ice Cube, 2Chainz, Lloyd Banks), the single celebrates our successes as the Black diaspora through high-class taste and lifestyle, and reminds us to enjoy life even in uncertain times.
Growing up as an African-raised Canadian and having spent his high school years in West Africa, The LJ has inherited styles intuitive to him. ‘Victory’ has smooth vocals, with an African-Caribbean flavor, over a lush dancehall-Afrobeat riddim. The LJ shows his cultural vibrancy, reflecting what he learned in the streets in places like Moscow and Senegal.
“Put your phone down gyal focus on the vision Hands on your waist when you move to di riddim. I will stay loyal as long as you hold me down…”
With sexy lyrics from The LJ, “Victory” gives a narrative of a man enticing the women he desires. He wants to show her that he desires her body and her presence in his life; the life and love he can give to her will be his own victory.
His latest EP Trap Gospel, produced by LukieBaby, with the video for the lead single “Diamonds” is just shy of 250K views. “Victory” adds to the momentum of The LJ’s music curation. Stay tuned for upcoming singles, collaborations, and projects dropping Fall 2020 and Winter 2020.
