On the heels of winning Album of the Year at Faces Magazine’s Ottawa Awards 2020 with his debut spoken word album Thorns and being named one of “Canada’s Most Slept On Artists” by our readers and social media followers at SHIFTER, TheSoulfulPoet is back with “Invisible”, the latest single off his album Live From the Basement.
The single features Gatineau, Quebec producer Quest of Dreamland Studios with Dominique Gorley on vocals. The award-winning spoken word artist, songwriter and rapper has a unique style, mixing both elements of hip hop and spoken word to create pieces that are enlightening, inspirational, as well as entertaining, and he brings that same energy to his newest release. Being a voice for the voiceless, the Urban Legends Poetry Slam Champion sheds light on several issues we face today, using word play to artistically express himself.
“This project is a testament to what’s possible when life traps you in your house and you’re forced to make do with what you have, ” TheSoulfulPoet told SHIFTER. “Literally, 99% percent of the time our biggest enemy is ourselves, and when you conquer that, the journey gets a lot easier. That’s what this project is. This album was never supposed to happen, but when I decided that letting the world dictate my next move wasn’t for me, this project is what manifested.”
“Invisible” is available on all streaming platforms.
