Vancouver singer-songwriter Cole James and Mississauga artist, producer, engineer and guitarist Will Ryte have come together for a new cross-Canada collaboration called “I’m Leaving”. The single tells a story of love, heartbreak and the process of rebounding and getting over it.
Written by Cole James and engineered by his brother Craig, the smooth, laid back and melodic release provides a perfect balance of the artists’ styles and event includes a cool back and forth sequence from the artists. When it comes to both their flows and vocals, the two fit together like a glove.
What makes the song even more interesting is that our James, our Artist of the Month for May, and Ryte, who we said released one of the best albums of 2020, met through SHIFTER.
“I found Cole James through SHIFTER magazine. After my article was published I was looking though the site and I found an article on Cole James so I followed him on Instagram and we just linked up from there. We thought it would be a good idea to come together on a track for more exposure so Cole sent me an open V”, Ryte explains. “After listening to Cole’s music I wanted to work with him; he’s got a lot of talent and catchy flows. The project took a few months to come together but everything was very professional.”
Will Ryte, who has appeared on Northern Bars and graduated from Metalworks Institute, and Cole James, who has 500,000 streams across all streaming platforms, are definitely two Canadian artists to watch. We definitely hope to see more collaborations from these two in the future.
“I’m Leaving” is available on all major streaming platforms.
