Major changes are underway at one of Ottawa’s leading fashion companies, as designer and entrepreneur, Stacey Bafi-Yeboa (née Stacey Martin) recently took to social media to announce the rebranding of her Byward Market-based company. Effect immediately KANIA Couture Inc., known for its line of made in Canada, luxury sweatshirts, is now known as Stacey Martin Lifestyle Inc.

It was just over 10 years ago, after working on film and TV commercial projects for the likes of Nike, Leon’s and Hairspray, that the former Broadway dancer decided to dedicate one hundred percent of her time to KANIA. What started as a family affair in her childhood bedroom eventually landed her a spot at World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto in 2015 and eventually New York Fashion Week in 2017.

When asked why she decided to rebrand at this time in light of her success with KANIA, Bafi-Yeboa told SHIFTER, “I felt it was time; time to step out of my comfort zone, time to create the brand I’ve always dreamed of. It was time to pave the way for those who follow; to be an example of the possibility.”

In Stacey Martin Lifestyle, lovers of the previous brand can still anticipate a line that blends luxury and comfort, while helping you feel great in the process.

“Stacey Martin Lifestyle is more than just clothing, it’s truly a way of life”, Bafi-Yeboa notes. “It’s about appreciating the beauty that surrounds you. It’s about falling in love with yourself. It’s about creating experiences while wearing the clothing that are so memorable that they’ll never be forgotten. It also carries the essence of my heritage in St. Kitts and Nevis. It’s a luxury lifestyle mixed with a laid back effortlessness that’s sustainable but never sloppy, comfortable yet polished.”

Stacey Martin Lifestyle is also set to begin an equity crowd funding campaign this fall. For more information about the new company visit
