    ALL AMERICAN SEASON 7 EPISODE 3 RECAP

    Coop babysits Amina, Beverly and Crenshaw take the field, and Jordan finds a new family member? Here’s our All American Season 7 Episode 3 recap.

    If social media engagement is any indication, many All American fans are choosing to not continue watching the show after the departure of The Vortex, but the show is actually pretty good. The storylines are pretty strong and the young cast members are delivering solid performances, especially Alexis Chikaeze as Amina Simms, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Kingston “KJ” Jeremy, and Antonio J. Bell as Khalil Edwards. It would be nice if we got more screen time for Jordayla and a stronger storyline for Layla, but it’s nice to see Jordan come into his own as a coach.

    So let’s jump right in to our All American Season 7 Episode 3 recap.

    Khalil joins the team

    Khalil looks nervous as he heads into the training facility for this first day of training, but he quickly finds his rhythm.

    At practice, Jordan takes Khalil aside and praises him for being in the gym again. His extra work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Khalil feels like he’s ready to suit up. Unfortunately, the Coach Bonny isn’t feeling it since he hasn’t geled with the team yet.

    After practice, Yasi gets on Khalil’s case. He doesn’t think he should be on the team. They end up challenging each other to a weightlifting contest. When Yasi wins and declares that it’s his team, Coach Bobby corrects him and welcomes Khalil to the team.

    Cassius and KJ open the season

    Cassius and KJ are at The Hangout and Cassius is nervous about the new season. He needs KJ more than ever since they’re starting at a new school, but KJ is confident. Jordan walks in and sees Cassius and KJ going over plays. KJ and Jordan are all smiles, but Cassius’s ongoing insecurities are showing.

    Later in the hallway, KJ bumps into Tory who has rejoined the cheer team, although she’s staying on the sidelines for now. He’s wondering why Spirit Week is lacking spirit.

    Before their first game, Cassius gets his team fired up, but after they lose, KJ is mad that his team didn’t perform or protect him. He also blames Cassius for uprooting him from his home. When KJ returns to the hotel, Cassius calls him out on his disrespect, although he understands what KJ is going through.

    Coop plays babysitter

    Coop stops at Amina’s house to check on her unexpectedly, but she’s a bit shook. We find out why very soon when Khalil walks in. Khalil is supposed to walk her to school, but Coop offers to take them both to school.

    Later, Amina heads over to Layla’s for her job training session, but Coop tags along as the babysitting continues. She ends up making a mistake after seeing Coop taking pictures of her. Layla sees what’s going on and asks Coop to go. On her break, she takes some time to call KJ.

    After Amina finishes her shift, Layla offers to take her home, but Coop put her up to it. Amina asks Layla for advice on how to get people to stop treating her like a kid.

    Crenshaw for the win

    Cassius and KJ head over to watch Crenshaw’s game, but Yasin is struggling at quarterback. Khalil calls him out for being afraid to throw the ball downfield. They get into another fight that the coaches have to break up. Amina calls Khalil out for moping on the bench and mouthing off to the team, including the one person who believes in him—Jordan. Back at the game, Khalil starts to encourage and help his team from the sidelines. When Jordan suggests that Coach Bobby put Khalil in, he shuts him down. Jordan doesn’t listen and puts Khalil in anyway and he scores, over and over again, and gets them the first win of the season. Cassius shows KJ that this leadership and putting his team on his back is what Beverly needs from him.

    After the game, Amina bumps into KJ. He tells her to not let Khalil take her for granted after seeing them almost kiss. Meanwhile, Khalil thanks Jordan for putting him in the game, but Jordan thanks him for executing.

    Later, at Beverly, KJ apologizes to his teammates and gets them to help the cheer team with their bake sale fundraiser. KJ apologizes to Cassius for his bahavior and admits that he’s partly to blame for Beverly losing their first game.

    Khalil ends the episode where he started—in the gym, but Amina is still on his mind. Soon some of his teammates come in and it seems he’s becoming one of the guys.

    Coach Bobby vs. Coach Jordan

    Coach Bobby walks in and calls Jordan out for insubordination and accuses him of being just like Billy Baker. He warns Jordan to stay in his lane. Later, at the Baker house, Jordan talks to Layla about Coach Bobby and feels his beef might be personal. He thinks he might be Billy’s long lost brother who was put up for adoption.

    Coop steps back

    Back at the house, Coop tries to babysit Amina again and she finally has enough. She tells Coop to stop acting like her mom. Later, Coop texts Amina to kind of check in on her, but steps back. As someone who grew up without her mom, Layla tells Coop that Amina misses her mother. Coop is a bit worried because her mother’s death isn’t something they’ve talked about in a long time.

    All American airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.
