After having a big year individually, Ottawa hip-hop artists AP and Lindasson have dropped a soulful collab with their new single “My Cry”.
2021 has been a great year for collaborations in the capital. Hueso and City Fidelia came together for their song “Legacy”. Night Lovell, Lindasson and FTG Reggie also teamed up on their big single “A Lot”. Today, the capital was blessed with another collab that we didn’t know we needed in “My Cry” featuring AP and Lindasson.
Individually, they have both been having a big year so far, with Lindasson’s collaboration with Night Lovell and FTG Reggie approaching two million views on Youtube and AP being included on Hello Canada’s “Seven up-and-coming Canadian musicians to watch in 2021” list.
On the new AP-produced track the pair talk about life, as well as their experiences with love, loss, family and faith in God. From the message and introspective content to the moody vocals and soft guitar riff, the track is infused with soul, providing the listener with a feeling of hope. Not only do they compliment each other sonically, but there’s clean onscreen chemistry between the two. Adding to the authenticity of the track is the honesty and lack of pretense found in many hip-hop songs and music videos today.
The music video, directed by Ben Telford, continues this narrative as we see the two rappers navigating the journey of life, from youth to love.
“My Cry” is available on all major streaming platforms. To check out the music video, click the image in the header.
