After a very lean roundup in March, this month’s Ottawa music video roundup includes artists from both sides of the river, including Timal Garnier, SVDVM, Sean Lightz, KVY, and OTG featuring Sixonetrey. April was dominated by music video maker Goat Vision Studios who was responsible for three out of the five videos on our list.

Timal Garnier
Tonight
Release date:Â March 30, 2019
Directed and edited by: John John de Eyeskontrats
We didn’t include this video in our March roundup so we decided to include this on our April list.
Gatineau artist and SND TRK member Timal Garnier has been making some noise in the province of Quebec in 2019. Shot and edited by John John de Eyeskontrats, the video for his single “Tonight” was shot just before a recent show in Montreal. Fellow SND TRK member Hevve and francophone rapper Elmaniak also make cameos in this one. I was on set for this video so I got to see a bit of the creative process. As with other John John de Eyeskontrats videos, it’s a pretty simple concept though well executed.
SVDVM
Coldnada Music
Release date:Â April 1, 2019
Directed by: Idalina Leandro
This video is so simple but there’s a lot to like about it. As soon as it started I had a smile on my face. It comes down to the opening shots. Hallway shots, then close up shots, and repeat. There’s a lot of emotion and storytelling being conveyed along with voice overs. It’s pretty cinematic. Idalina Leandro did an excellent job with the directing. Amir Zargara’s store in the Byward Market makes an appearance as SVDVM performs inside the store in front of fan and friends. The slow motion shots add some more cinematic elements to the video. Overall, it’s a good look for Ottawa. If anyone tells you Ottawa is boring show them this video.
Sean Lightz
Wrong
Release date:Â April 7, 2019
Directed and edited by: Moshi Karim (Goat Vision Studios)
“Wrong” by Sean Lightz is the first video on our list from Goat Vision. The video is set in a high end condo. There’s not much else to say about it except there are some cool effects throughout.
KVY
Ace
Release date:Â April 10, 2019
Directed & Edited by Mustafa Zeidan
Produced by: Goat Vision Studios
Shot by: Rhys
The next video on our list is “Ace” by KVY. This is the first of three Goat Vision produced videos on our list.
The video opens with shots of KVY’s crew before the vocals kick in. It was clearly shot at Carleton University, mostly in the underground tunnels. You’ll notice those grey lockers and the murals. We’re then taken outside in an empty parking lot where the fun continues. The video is pretty simple but every once in a while we’re offered some cool effects (like snow falling in while they’re sitting in a classroom) that add visual interest.
OTG feat. Sixonetrey
Glizzy
Release date:Â April 26, 2019
Directed/produced by: Goat Vision Studios
OTG has to be one of the busiest crews in the Ottawa hip-hop scene. They probably drop more videos than anyone else. This one, also produced by Goat Vision, features another hardworking artist, Sixonetrey. As with other OTG videos, there’s a story and, as usual, that story revolves around the streets. We get some jewellery, cash and guns as you’d expect from a song called “Glizzy”.
