Weeks after being sold to video-making and social-networking service Triller, Verzuz, the brainchild of hip-hop mega producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, has announced a brand new partnership with a highly unlikely partner in popular exercise equipment maker Peloton. While the partnership between Verzuz and Peloton may be a head scratcher to some, the latter has quickly built a reputation for bringing together fitness and music through its music-led-classes and artist partnerships known as its Artist Series.
Through the new partnership, Peloton will celebrate the music of two legendary artists in a friendly competition format, providing a backdrop for a series of high energy workouts. While the original iteration of Verzuz has focused on Black music, the new partnership will see the “face-off” competition format explore other genres and disciplines.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, the new classes will kick off with Brandy vs. Monica which attracted over 1.2 million viewers on Instagram alone. Peloton Members will be able to use the tag function during their workout to decide whether they’re on Team Brandy or Team Monica by tagging #VerzuzBrandy or #VerzuzMonica. The next Peloton Verzuz class will feature Verzuz co-founders Swizz Beatz vs. Timbaland.
The first Brandy vs. Monica class kicks off March 29th at 7pm.
