Two OG cast member return and Jordan’s investigation hits a bump in the road. Here’s our All American Season 7 Episode 6 recap.
This episode is a bit nostalgic with the return of two OG cast members. You probably know who they are by now, but in case you haven’t heard, we won’t ruin it for you just yet. We also see the storylines from the OG series repeating themselves in this episode.
Now, let’s take a closer look at what went down on All American Season 7 Episode 6.
Jordan’s investigation
Jordayla has returned from Napa after looking into Jordan’s long lost uncle. It looks like there are some coincidences, but is he right about Coach Bobby? While they’re discussing, Laura Baker walks in (we missed you!). She’s in town for GW’s birthday party. Jordan is getting messy by inviting his maybe uncle, Coach Bobby, to the party. Laura can tell that Jordan and Layla are up to something. When they tell Laura the news, she already knows. But she didn’t know Billy’s brother’s adoption didn’t go through and that he was put in the foster care system.
KJ and Amina’s arrangement
At the hotel, KJ tells his dad that he’s helping Amina by pretending to be her boyfriend. Of courses, dad thinks it’s a stupid idea. Amina has arranged for a group to hang out after school. At school, Cassius and KJ are still talking about his arrangement with Amina. He advises him to bring defense, aka a friend. That friend is Tory, making things awkward. At The Hangout, KJ, Amina, Tori, and Khalil engage in a friendly trivia competition, Beverly vs. Crenshaw. Amina is upset when she finds out that Marqui wants Khalil to lie for him about where he was the night of the food drive.
Khalil’s decision
At Crenshaw, Preach’s class is having a test when Marqui walks in and removes Khalil from the class. Preach follows them into the hallway and reiterates that Khalil has a test. Marqui makes Preach go back to his gang roots, reminding Marqui of where he comes from. Later at practice, Khalil’s head isn’t all there. Jordan talks to him about his dad showing up at the school. He also learns that Marqui wants Khalil to provide him with an alibi for the night of the food drive. It’s not the first time Marqui has asked him to lie for him.
Later, as Khalil leaves The Hangout, Marqui pulls up and tells Khalil to get into the car. Khalil says he can’t do this anymore. It looks like they’re going their separate ways.
Patience’s return
At Layla’s, Coop is still going over her torts for law school. Layla is giving her trouble about her relationship with her professor, but she’s only attracted to her mind; so she says. Their conversation is broken up by a tabloid article about Patience dating her Broadway castmate. When they return to the Baker house, Patience is waiting. She surprised her and wanted to talk to her about the article which she says isn’t true. But it’s clear something is up. It’s also clear they’ve both changed. Patience is vegan now and all Coop talks about is school. Patience drops a bomb that she’s been cast in a play in London for 10 months. She’s upset that Coop isn’t more upset, but Coop just wants to be supportive and thinks they can make things work.
GW’s party
At GW’s party, Layla is worried about Coop and Patience. Soon KJ and Cassius pull up to the party and Cassius decides to stay when he sees a familiar face in Layla. Things get awkward when Coach Bobby comes in and Jordan introduces him to his grandfather. Jordan eventually says that Coach Bobby is his grandmother’s long lost baby, but it turns out he’s wrong after all. But he did play against Billy when they were younger. GW is upset that Jordan didn’t leave this whole thing alone as he asked. Jordan apologizes, but it isn’t necessary. Jordan wants to find his uncle for the same reason GW wanted to throw the party and Laura is hiding away in Europe—they all miss Billy. Jordan tells her to call Liv to find out the big news as to why she couldn’t come to the party.
Meanwhile, Amina is worried that she pushed Khalil too hard to stand up to his dad. She’s worried she put him in a dad position. Cassius and Jordan end up having a drink together and bonding over being raised by tough fathers. Cassius doesn’t agree with Coach Bobby. He thinks Jordan is a great coach. We all know where this story is going.
At the same time, things still aren’t good between Coop and Patience. She’s upset that Coop is trying to get close to her. After talking to Layla, she has to confront the fact that they aren’t kids anymore and may have grown apart.
Meanwhile, when Tori pulls up to the party, she calls out KJ and Amina’s fake relationship. They decide to go out to another trivia night. Soon, the police come to ask Khalil to come to the station and give a statement. Thankfully, Laura is there to let him know his rights as a minor. With Khalil having no place to stay, Jordan lets Khalil stay at the Baker House. The Spencer parallel is in full effect.
